This award recognises excellence in quality assurance and quality control within the UK pharmaceutical and life sciences industry. It is open to organisations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to maintaining the highest standards of product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across manufacturing, testing, and supply operations. The winner will be an organisation that has implemented robust and innovative quality systems, ensured regulatory excellence, and delivered measurable improvements in product integrity, patient safety, and operational performance. Entry is by a 5 A4 page submission; the judges will be looking for clear information, supported by evidence, that demonstrates delivery against core objectives, with particular attention to the criteria below.

  • Quality Strategy & Compliance Excellence: Outline your organisation’s approach to quality assurance and control, including governance, leadership commitment, and how compliance with global regulatory standards (e.g. GMP, GDP) is consistently achieved and maintained.
  • Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate the effectiveness of your quality management systems, including audit performance, deviation management, CAPA processes, and how continuous improvement is embedded across operations.
  • Innovation in Quality: Provide examples of innovative approaches such as digital quality systems, automation, data integrity solutions, or real-time monitoring that enhance quality assurance and control.
  • Operational Impact & Performance: Show measurable improvements in quality outcomes, such as reductions in deviations, batch failures, complaints, or recalls, alongside improvements in efficiency, right-first-time metrics, or release timelines.
  • People, Culture & Capability: Describe how you build and sustain a strong quality culture, including training, upskilling, and initiatives that ensure accountability and engagement across the organisation.
  • Risk Management & Supply Chain Quality: Explain how risks to product quality and patient safety are identified and mitigated across the lifecycle, including supplier quality management, oversight, and collaboration with partners.
